PREZI PRESENTATION

INTRODUCTION

Within two months of our radio project in term 2, my group (Group 2) consists of Sharon, Ilona, Rania, and Sera. We are a group that came together as we share a passion for the pop culture and everything related to that. Everyone has a specialty that helps round out our groups, such as Ilona as our art expert, Sharon in the advertising department, Rania in the news department, and Sera as our team manager. We all have different personalities and points of view that may contribute to developing a unique conversation.

As time passed, the roles of our team became useless as we worked together and switched tasks to each other. This strategy can help improve our production skills, as we know how to do other jobs, such as learning how to do editing. Our targeted audience is teenagers and students, which is likely to be easier to relate to the content in our daily days. The school radio is more accessible and hosted as we know what the audience demands, meaning we know how to engage the students.

The genre of R&B, alternative, pop, and K-pop radio shows with a stronger focus on western culture was chosen to be produced by our team. Other chores include creating a radio jingle and placing an advertisement on one of the cafeteria kiosks.

How does your product use or challenge conventions, and how does it represent social groups or issues?

The radio project I’ve been doing with my group consists of four people. As we picked the school news program radio in the morning, we decided to take topics from outside sources and inside sources from our school. Therefore, the songs that were played targeted high schoolers as some songs are trending in the particular social platform and enjoyed by a lot of students, not only that the genre we picked is pop radio, which has a touch of chill vibes in the morning. Hence we have the target audience of teenagers and high-schoolers interested in celebrity gossip or the most viral things that happened, and we mentioned some of the hot news from celebrities. Since we’re the school’s radio, we still want to relate our radio news with the school’s events, which keeps the students updated with some school news.

How does your product engage with audiences, and how would it be distributed as an actual media text?

As our audience is students of Regents School, our targeted audience is likely teenagers and students. We can approach our targeted audience by giving interesting content; based on our survey, most people listen to the radio in the morning or while on the way to school. We targeted, based on the demographics and psychographics, students interested in pop music and western culture compared to jazz music or Indonesian songs; from the survey, we know that we are targeting the middle to upper class within middle income, by that we are promoting the school canteen to increase the interest of each stall and may help them to know what the school offered. We engage our audience by providing broad content, which may allow more audience to have more options to listen, such as we provided some kpop songs, RnB songs, and pop songs; therefore, the audience has preferred reading.

How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

The production skills that I may develop are my communication skills with my team; at the beginning of this project, I could perceive that the project would take a lot of time and progression. I improved my production skills by making a script, music jingle, and timeline. Besides that, I learned how to talk for the radio section and, sound interesting to listen to, have clear pronunciation so that audience can understand well. We need to communicate better as we need to cooperate. Starting from the beginning, I found it hard to make a suitable rhythm and melody to build up the vibes in the radio by that; I learned that making jingles should also know the target audience along with the genre of the radio. We changed the script multiple times to cover all the genres and make the radio sounds more engaging and fun to listen to it. As we started to think about the concept we wanted to pick, as we discussed, we changed multiples idea into better ones, such as the logo concept and the name of the radio.

How did you integrate software, hardware, and online technologies into this project?

Since most of our project is radio must do radio in technology. We used software to discuss ideas for the project and put the content in charge of communicating with each other. To create the final project, we used Audacity to compile all the files into one good editing by one of the friend's group; hence for the jingle, I used bandland since they provide a broad type of kinds of music samples, this may allow me to express more. For creating the logo for the radio, we moved from traditional to digital; we discussed and had a rough sketch from paper. After several trials and errors, we decided on the final logo. We recreate it in the digital platform with ‘Medibang paint.’ Moving to the recording part, we use the recording app on our phones and the mic we might use from our earphones to increase the voice quality. Research that we did most likely from the social platform such as Pinterest for the logo ideas, Youtube for jingle ideas and learning what radio show should be, Radios websites to know the radio flow, and lastly, Google for the basic research on it.
